1 What is SolFileFinder?SolFileFinder is an encrypted file finding tool and a risk visualization tool to evalute an information leakage level for Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat PDF and Zip files.1.1 Download SolFileFinder SolFileFinder searches Microsoft Office 2003/2007 documents encrypted by Microsoft IRM(Informatioin Rights Management) or PWD(password), Adobe Acrobat PDF documents encrypted by PWD and Zip files encrypted by PWD. You can download the latest SolFileFinder Free Version[Update:2009/11/27]: SolFileFinder 1.0.0.8 (SolFileFinder.zip). Note: Sorry no technical support is provided for this free version program.If you have any question, please refer to Question and Comment 1.2 Version History encryption-percentage of target files. 1.3 SolFileFinder User Interface SolFileFinder runs on Windows 7/Vista/XP or Windows Server 2003/2008, but you don't need to install corresponding applications(such as Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat or WinZip) to run this tool only. 1. This tool searches the Office, PDF, ZIP files in a drive or folder including its all subdirectories and examines whether those files are encrypted or not. 2. While searching, this displays those encrypted or unencrypted file names in a listview window of this tool. 3. Finally, as a search result, this generates an HTML file to report a summary information of encryption percentages and risk rates of information leakage, and a detailed all hit file names list.
1.4 Target Files The target files to search in this tool are the following.
2 How to use it1. Run SolFileFinder program in your desktop, you'll get the following a Windows Explorer like window2. Select a drive or folder to seach in the left pane of the window. 3. To start a search, click [Start] button on the upper right of the the window. Or Select [Start] of a pulldown menu for [Search] menu. Your search will be recursively done in all subfolders if accessable. 4. If you stop your search, click [Stop] button on the upper right of the the window. Or Select [Stop] of a pulldown menu for [Search] menu. 5. Matched file name will be shown in the right pane of the window. You can run an application program to the file by double-clicking or hitting return key on the selected file name. 6. Finally, a search-result file of HTML will be generated to report a summary and detailed information on your seach and the url to it will be shown bottom of the window. You can view the content of the result HTML file on Internet Explorer by clicking the url.
3 HTML Report FileThis tool generates the following HTML file as a search-result.3.1 Summary Information This HTML file cotains a summary information on encrytion percentages of the matched files and risk level of information leak.
3.2 Detailed Inforamtion This HTML file cotains a detailed information of match files(encrypted or not, file name, size, modified).
